Julia — Industrial & Product Design EngineerAbout WERIX Metal

JuliaIndustrial & Product Design Engineer

Julia takes a product from the first sketch to a sheet metal design that can actually be made. She sits between the customer’s concept and our press brakes — modelling enclosures and brackets in CAD, running early DFM passes, and choosing the material and finish that will still look right two years down the line. Author of the WERIX Metal engineering blog — DFM design rules, material selection and sourcing guides.

How to Read a Sheet Metal Gauge Chart (mm and Inches)

Sheet metal gauge is a thickness scale where a higher number means a thinner sheet. Here is the steel gauge-to-mm chart, why aluminum and stainless read differently, and how to pick the right gauge for your part.

How Julia works with your drawings

  1. 1

    Incoming Material

Each batch of raw sheet metal checked for thickness, grade, and surface finish before production begins.

  2. 2

    In-Process Check

First-article inspection and random sampling at every workstation: laser, bend, weld, stamp.

  3. 3

    Final Inspection

Dimensions checked against customer drawings. Precision instruments used for tight-tolerance parts.

  4. 4

    Shipment Audit

Packaging, labeling, and surface protection inspected before dispatch. Each batch traced.

Frequently asked questions

Is WERIX a factory or a trading company?

WERIX is a direct source factory — we own and operate all equipment in our 3,000+ sqm Dongguan facility. We are not a trading company or marketplace platform. Request a quote via the online quote form.

How many clients does WERIX serve?

WERIX has served 5,000+ clients across 30+ countries since 2015, delivering 10,000+ prototypes with a 98% on-time delivery rate.

Can I visit the WERIX factory?

Yes. We welcome factory audits in person or via live video call. Our facility in Changping, Dongguan is open by appointment.

Which quality system is WERIX certified to?

ISO 9001. The four-stage process — incoming material, in-process check, final inspection and shipment audit — runs inside that system, with batch traceability from raw coil to packed part.

Where is WERIX Metal located?

Our factory is at 35 Yuanjiangyuan Jintai Road, Changping Town, Dongguan, Guangdong, China — about an hour by road from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. All production, die making and final inspection take place at this address.

When was WERIX Metal established?

WERIX Metal was established in 2015 in Dongguan, Guangdong, and has manufactured sheet metal parts continuously since then — more than 11 years of production experience, with the same core engineering and production team.

Which manufacturing processes are performed in-house?

Laser cutting, CNC turret punching, shearing, CNC bending, TIG/MIG/spot/laser welding, riveting and hardware insertion, and metal stamping (progressive, transfer and compound dies, fine blanking and deep drawing) all run in our own facility, together with die design and die making in our in-house die workshop. Surface finishing is carried out by long-standing licensed partner plants to our specification and inspected by us before shipment.

Does WERIX support both prototypes and mass production?

Yes — one production path, not three suppliers. Prototype runs from a single piece with no tooling, low-volume production from 50 pieces, then NPI, then mass production. The same engineering contact and the same four-stage inspection system follow the project from the first sample to recurring orders.

Can WERIX provide FAI and inspection documentation?

Yes. We issue first article inspection reports (FAI), dimensional inspection reports, material certificates and, where the programme requires it, PPAP documentation. Tell us the documentation set your quality team needs and it is quoted together with the part.

Which countries does WERIX Metal serve?

WERIX Metal ships to more than 30 countries, with the largest customer bases in the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Australia. We work in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French and Spanish, and quote in USD, EUR or CNY.

What certifications does WERIX hold?

WERIX Metal is certified to ISO 9001, the only management-system certification we hold; surface finishing is coordinated with specialist partners rather than run under our own roof. Every order runs through incoming, in-process, final and pre-shipment inspection. See the about page for the facility, team and quality system.

How long has WERIX been making sheet metal parts?

Since 2015 - more than 11 years of continuous production from the same Dongguan facility, with the same core engineering and production team. We have delivered 10,000+ prototypes and serve 5,000+ clients across 30+ countries.

Can WERIX sign an NDA before I send drawings?

Yes. A mutual NDA is signed before any file moves, and we can sign your template instead. Drawings are held on dedicated servers, never shared with other customers, and deleted on request at the end of a programme. Start a confidential enquiry through the quote form.

Does WERIX support both English and Chinese communication?

Yes. Engineers are available in English and Chinese, Monday to Friday 8:30-21:30 UTC+8, and we quote in USD, EUR or CNY. Most enquiries are answered within 24 hours by a senior engineer, not a sales bot.
