Sheet Metal DFM Checklist

Twenty-four design checks our process engineers run on a drawing before quoting it, in the order we work through them: material and thickness, holes, bends, welding, hardware and finish, assembly access. The boxes are for your own use — nothing leaves this page.

Ticking a box here does not change anything on our side — the state lives in this page only, nothing is sent anywhere. Work through it against a drawing and send the drawing; the review is part of quoting and costs nothing.

Questions about the DFM checklist

Drawn from the DFM review every enquiry goes through; the printable PDF is the same list.

Is this really the list you run?

It is the list an engineer works through on a new enquiry before it is priced. It is not a certification scheme and we do not score drawings against it — the point is that the expensive issues get raised while they are still free to change.

What happens if a drawing fails several checks?

Nothing bad. Each observation comes back with the price, usually with a suggested change and the reason. Where the change is a real cost saving we say so; where the drawing is right and the check simply does not apply, we leave it alone.

Can I get this as a printable file?

Yes — the download button takes the same list as a two-page PDF, sized to print and mark up by hand next to a drawing.

Does ticking a box send anything to WERIX?

No. The state lives in this page while it is open and is never transmitted or stored. If you want a review, send the drawing.

Send the drawing — the review is free

Work through the list, change what matters, then send the drawing. Manufacturability review is part of quoting: anything that will cost you money is raised before the order, not after it.
